Autumn Trip Pt 1

042

We took a trip to Iowa earlier this month.  This is a picture of our friend’s farmhouse.  I painted it last year at this time for our last visit.

We find the space of the farm and living in Iowa time very relaxing.  It is amazing how calming someone else’s daily routine can be when all you have to do is tag along and drink coffee.

About Tweed and Briar

I am the pastor of a rather conservative rural congregation. My interests alongside of work are hunting, fly fishing, cooking, and life in an agricultural community. By way of family, I have a wife and two children: a daughter and a son. I am of indeterminate age because my wife is a bit younger than I am and my son is ages with some of my friends’ grandchildren. However, to say that I slip smoothly among the generations would imply an agility which I no longer possess. I aspire to the genteel poverty of the country manse.

I’d love a farm. One day we may get a smallholding to give us the space to grow more crops and coppice our own wood for fuel. The farm house in your painting looks lovely as is the painting.

    • When you have the Land Rover and the Rayburn, your own mud does seem to be the next step. Fortunately, we have enough friends on farms to get our fix.
Thank you. I am quite new to painting. It came along with high blood pressure and being over fifty.
